This expression is a vat of 6 year 95% rye from Indiana and a 16 year 80% rye from Kentucky. The nose is floral with rye spice and tree bark. The palate is spicy but a little different than a typical rye, lots of wood, nice sweet balance, dried barley. The finish is full of heat but in a pleasant way, tastes like a cask strength rye with a great balance and a lot of character. A must try for rye lovers

The nose is about as light as a bourbon can get. The palate is much of the same, light sweetness on both, buttery. This almost reminds me of canadian whiskey. The finish is the best part of this expression, there is some nice rye spice here. Overall, this is an ultra smooth bourbon with no real character.

The nose has a lot of oak and honey with some brown sugar. The palate has a typical American bourbon big caramel taste (I like this taste) more wood, really nice balance here, there is a touch of citrus thats lingers into the finish. The finish reminds me of pancakes and marmalade. For the cost this is a splendid purchase. Not overly complex but enjoyable.

Buffalo Trace has said that this will be a regular expression. However, so far it has been a bit hard to find for customers. The nose on this is wood, spice and lots of oak. The palate is rye, oak, nice candied caramel taste here. The finish is hot, plastic, finger nail polish remover. I think this expression by Stagg is worth trying and owning but it does fall a bit short if you have expectations based on the original Stagg expressions. B-/B

Bottled in the fall of 2012. The nose on this has some seriously complex spice, peppers, and rye. The palate has some spicy pepper, wood, and is quite sweet. The finish is smooth but does have a little of the pleasant type of heat, slightly dry and mildly bitter. Very good stuff…

There are no specific barrel markings on this bottle. The nose is rye/spice, and sweet maple, vanilla, caramel. The palate has a very big rye taste with some sweet candied flavors. The finish is very hot, not unpleasant but there could definately be some more complexity to match the heat.

The nose is splendid, rye, anise maple syrup and pancakes. The palate is very sweet, much sweeter than most bourbons. It tastes like a cake or cookie dough. The finish is short and light..could be better. Overall this is a very tasty bottle. You will want more and more of this when you taste it.
