The nose gives you an impression that this is a soft rye with vanilla, wood, and cinnamon. The palate however starts off hot right away followed by spice and pepper and back to the vanilla. The finish reminds you quickly that this is a hot rye with some lovely spice and licorice. You would be hard pressed to find a better rye in this price range.

Bottled in the fall of 2012. The nose on this has some seriously complex spice, peppers, and rye. The palate has some spicy pepper, wood, and is quite sweet. The finish is smooth but does have a little of the¬†pleasant type of heat, slightly dry and mildly bitter. Very good stuff…

The nose on this is rye spice and vanilla. On the palate it’s an easy drinking rye/spice with ¬†a decent amount of wood/oak. The finish is sweet and much milder than most ryes of this ABV. If you are looking for a nice easy to sip rye, this is it. If you are looking for a big bold rye that has a punch, this is not it.

The nose has some anise and rye spice. The palate is dill and brine, typical rye spice. This one finishes a bit light for complexity and has some paint thinner taste that lingers. Overall, it’s a good solid rye. The price is starting to get a bit high which makes me compare it to some better rye that does exist in this price range. It’s worth trying if you have not had it.
