This is a bourbon that was finished in port pipes. The nose has a lot of wine on it and quite floral. The palate is woody with more wine berries and dried fruit, though very light on all of the above mentioned. Nothing really stands out as a significant quality or taste. The finish is faint with the slightest taste of port. This is a very drinkable expression but not complex at all and hardly worth the money when considering the other options in this price range.

The nose has some nice oak and spice. The palate has loads of caramel, wood, spice, and tobacco. The finish is a bit dry and oaky, lingers with some dark fruit. I like this much better than the other Jim Beam products.

Buffalo Trace has said that this will be a regular expression. However, so far it has been a bit hard to find for customers. The nose on this is wood, spice and lots of oak. The palate is rye, oak, nice candied caramel taste here. The finish is hot, plastic, finger nail polish remover. I think this expression by Stagg is worth trying and owning but it does fall a bit short if you have expectations based on the original Stagg expressions. B-/B

The nose on this is rye, spice, but with a slight chemical compound. The palate is dry again with moderate spice and lingering rye into the finish. The finish is tart and semi offensive. There is a lot of youth here. This is certainly a below average bourbon and was better when it was at 43.00% ABV.

This is a blend of rye, wheat, and corn. The nose on this has some floral notes and maybe a bit vanilla. On the palate this expression is very dry and has a little bit of spice, but mostly it becomes an intense astringent taste that lingers into the finish. While it’s not a terrible bourbon…it’s not far off either. C/C-

The nose has some licorice notes to it with some nuts. On the palate there is some bitterness that i can’t quite place, maybe a bit of wood. The finish is alcohol and more bitterness. I can only recommend this as a mixer or perhaps with ice. But why spend over $30 on an extremely bitter bourbon that can barely pass for a mixer?

Jimmy Russell hits it out of the park on this expression. It’s affordable and fantastic. The nose is vanilla, toffee, and alcohol.  On the palate is where this bottle stands out, cinnamon, spice, vanilla, it’s quite sweet. The finish is hot with lacquer. However, it’s a nice burn after such a complex build up on the palate. Delicious!!
