The nose has a lot of peat, tar, dark chocolate, and pepper. On the palate there is seaweed, currant, cake bread, and a serious amount of peat. The finish is very long, lots of iodine/smoke and more dark chocolate. I like this expression a lot. However, I do like the Uigeadail slightly better as I feel like it is slightly more ballanced.

This expression is still semi limited in America and is a blend of Ardbeg, Port Ellen, Caol Ila, and Bowmore. The nose has some typical Islay peat and is a little sweet with chocolate. The palate is salty and with a nice peatiness. The finish is mild and has little to offer other than peat.  I like this expression but I would like a lot more character besides  the peatiness.

This is another agressive and raw peaty expression by Ardbeg. For my money this is the best distillery in the world. The nose on this is slightly tart/lemon with big peat. The palate is semi sweet and quite simple but very good even without the complexity of other Ardbeg expressions. The finish… peat peat peat and spice. Another Ardbeg that is oh so good

It’s that time of the year again, and here we have the new limited release by Ardbeg. If you need help finding a bottle in the San Francisco area, write me and I will let you know which whiskey stores have the Ardbog as of 06/06/2013. On to the review. Yes, it is that fantastic! The nose is filled with big earth, peat and sherry. The palate reminds me of the Uigeadail with lots of earth and moss. The sherry mixes well and creeps along with a massive peatiness into the palate. I can’t decide which expression I like better between this and the Uigeadail, I am going to say this one has a better ballance of sweetness and smoke. Meh…I can’t decide. They are slightly different but both expressions are fantastic! Get yourself a bottle before they are gone.

This is the wow factor! The nose is filled with peat and just the right amount of sherry. The palate is earthy and sweet with slight fruit……. peat peat! Yes the finish is nothing but earth and massive peat. I can’t get enough of this stuff. I like it without water and with. I can’t say enough to praise this whiskey!
