Black Bottle

Black Bottle is a blend of Islay region distilleries. The nose has some citrus and does remind me a bit of tequila and plastic with a slight bit of peat. On the palate there is some  malt and peat that is sweet. The finish is slightly hot considering the ABV is only 40.00%. If you are on a budget then I would say this is a quality blend. However, for a few dollars more I would buy Islay Mist over this.

  1. This stuff has gotten favorable reviews elsewhere, I don’t get it – I couldn’t agree more: bad tequila on the nose (citrus is being kind) and a spine-tingling (in a bad way) bite a la cuervo that permeates throughout, and dominating the finish, for me. Not a repeat buy. C/C- here.

  2. I agree. However, some people from my experience will never spend over $30. I would say that in that budget, this stuff is ok at best. Hence the C/C+ rating. I would buy The Bowmore Legend, Islay Mist, Isle of Skye 8 over this expression though.
