Type: Scotland, Single Malt, Islay
Age: 17 Yrs
The bottle I sampled from was distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2011. Cask Reference ID 6997. This expression had a very limited run, though some bottles are still out there. It’s a must own for big Laphroaig fans. Everything about it is typical Laphroaig. As older Laphroaigs go the peat seams to die down during the aging process. This one is pretty good but far from fantastic. The nose is medicine and sweet fruit while the palate has some medicine and peat with a lighter finish and lingering smoke. It’s lighter than most Laphroaig expressions.
